When do we draw the line?

with the soweto incident about a 17 year old mentally challenged teenage girl been gang raped by 7 boys last week, two debates were arised by thess incidents. Are women the weaker sex to always be the victims of sexual abuse? And the question about parenting? what really surprised me was during my Media Class were one guy said we as girls have adopted the habbit of sleeping over our boyfriends houses without our parents consent.

Then i asked myself are we gonna be blamed for everything that endagers our lives, it was about the two girls who were chased by the taxi drivers at noord in johannesburg, people argued that the two girls asked for it. Why is that everytime our rights are being violeted as women  by the opposite sex and the answers is alawys the asked for it? When are we gonna draw the line?

Alcohol campaigns-Effective enough????

save your child from alcohol abuse.source:www.google.com
We have seen a number of alcohol campaigns, what is believed to be "Good Marketing" campaigns, on a daily basis, from all different media platforms, from our traditional media to our social media. media has along term effect on people's behaviour. My question is do the organisation who sell alcohol take into account how their messages omit important information? From what i know, for a successful campaign the concept of " Integrated Marketing Communication" has to be a priority. where an organisation should have the knowledge that their message will reach a largely diverse audience.

My main concern is that with all the campaigns, messages, adverts and so forth of alcohol, The dangers of consuming alcohol during pregnancy is hardly highlighted, the campaigns are all about promoting their products, are they saying their product comes before their consumers?15 percent of women consume alcohol during pregnancy www.recoveryzone.org/docs/articles/pregnant-women-drinking.html. This clearly indicates how the alcohol campaigns have forgotten about the consumer knowledge. Pregnant women Can suffer the following if they continue to consume alcohol

  • Foetus cancer
  • Severe developmental or other problem in a child
  • Health complications during birth
Organisation should adopt a good IMC(Integrated Marketing Communication) so that they can be a position to create awareness that caters for everyone.because IMC maintains that targeted public range from people who use,buy and do not show interest in their product, this gives public's a great deal of product knowledge.

It is a dress not a YES

South Africa has a firm constitution in terms of gender rights and equality, all it needs its to be championed. With many organisation and campaigns which exist in S.A to help fight for the rights of women who have been abused, sexually, physicaly and so forth. One of three of the 4000 women questioned by the community of information,Empowermnt and transperency said they have been raped in the past year,sourcewww.wikipedia/articles.com these incluedes campaings like:
As women we rely on the ANC women leauge to be the forefront of fighting such incidents and putting a stop in them,In march, there was a march organised by ANC women league in johannesburg which the laegue presented the memorandum to to the renewal of women rights to end sexual harrasment of women in public, this march was driven by the victimised two teenage girls at johhanesburg noord street taxi rank in january.yhis march was socially accepted version of slutwalk.

The big question is why now ANC women league, there has been several accusation against the league as muted response in issues that affect women, this was questionable when the league was seen in several engagement which was not very good from women point of view like:
  • in 2008 succesion battle between Thabo Mbeki and Jacob Zuma, the women's league sided with Zuma. A man with questionable gender credetials that do not stand up to proggressive standards
  • in 2006 Zuma was accused of raping a family friend,Zuma claimed they had consesual sex and beleived she had sent him a sexual signals by wearig a short skirt. sourcehttp://www.mail&gurdianonline.com/
The underlying question is why now ANC women league, the problem has been here far too long,if was acctedp upon ealier a vhanged would have been achieve.

women rights-so right

source:<www.unaidspcbngo.org>
The ANC women's league has confirmed that it will ensure that it makes it their responsibility that prostitution is decriminalised in SA, this was during one of their meetings in Mangaung. the were few major arguments that the league has put up for the nation to consider the decriminalising of prostitution.

  • Inequality
the were documentation which were brought forward one which has the statistics of  employment rates in SA, the league believes that women are still not treated equally in the corporate world, hence there is 28% of unemployed women compared to 22.5% among men in SA. Source: <www.africansexalliance.org>

  • Public health
The league has also argued that decriminalising prostitution is of desirable of public health, as it will make it easier for the sex workers to come to the heath facilities to seek things such as vct, condoms, family planning and so fourth, without being judged or hand to police, another one is the health safety of the sex workers, according to a study conducted by Sweat, the sex worker education and advocacy,Task group, stated that 12% of the cape town sex workers reported having been raped by police officers.

after a report by census which showed that many people who live in SA are christian, will such act be approved by the society with their believes such as "sex before mirage is a sin" 'your body is the temple of god". Are women rights well practised?
