the biggest question now arise, most of the women who use contraceptives especially the injection and the pill have complained about how these contraceptives got them to gain weight.DR Anne Szavewski in may 2011 at the GP meeting said "Being overweight the single most significant risk factor for thrombosis on the pill, the pill taking women whose body mass index (BMI) is 30 or more had 24 times the average risk of thrombosis",http://www.net doctor.co.uk.We living a world were it is believed that if you are a young women you need to look in a certain way, which is slim and sexy, how are you gonna look like that way if you taking contraceptives, this will affect your self esteem,it will kill your confidence especially if you are around your peers,it will affect your self image. Once a young person goes through the problem of acceptance it becomes very hard for them to belong and have positive attitude about themselves
it is advisable that before you can start with your contraceptives you should ensure that you are aware of the risk factors that you might experience, you can also exercise, drink water, eat healthy to avoid being overweight and killing your confidence. there organisations that helps with when you want to regain your self esteem you can visit them, organisations such as love life, ekuphulweni, youth centres.Let us not gamble with our bodies.
i think doing regular exciceses and eating health food is good, and womens who ask questions of how they gain weight is because they use wrong contreceptive.
ReplyDeletetrue, but you need to know that it is in many cases not the women's fault to use the wrong contraceptives, because if you visit a clinic for family planning(contraceptives) need to consult a nurse,it is then the nurse's responsiblity to ensure that an individual is prescribed a correct contraceptives.
ReplyDeleteI still dont get why women keep on reshaping themselves, its because they are not satisfied with their bodies? ohh yes normal exercising is good to stay healthy
ReplyDeleteI believe that when i went to the clinic to take contraceptives i did that for my own good therefore i wont really matter what people say about my weight
ReplyDeleteit is indeed for your own good but then again what good is there?you simply take these methods for preventing pregnancy, that is good, what will happen when these methods goes to an extreme of reshaping your body size, this will definately have an impact on how you gonna start viewing your self and not to mention the health risks such as obesity and heart deseases
Deletemost of them do not reshape themselves but the type of the contraceptives that thet take play a role in their weight gain, this also plays a signficant role in the self image of an individual
ReplyDeletenot all parents ancouarage their kids to use contraceptives and not everyone is comfortable with using them. I grew up with the mentality that using contraceptives might limit the chances of me getting pregnent at a later stage so am not comfortable with using contraceptives and they are not reliable becouse u can fall pregnent. i think its the clinic responsibility to teach girls what they should do inorder to avoid gainning weight and having unplanned pregnencies
